    Pervez Musharraf and Benazir Bhutto
It's the biggest news since the war started, so everyone should know about the assassination in Pakistan, but, for all two of you in the world who have no idea what happened, lemme break it down real simple-like.

Pakistan, as you all should know, is a US ally that is slowly moving towards a more democratic government (which means instead of ruling families, there will be elected officials running everything which can be a catch 22, if you know what I mean *cough*Bush*cough*).  Benazir Bhutto, who used to be the Prime Minister of Pakistan some years ago, was recently encouraged by Bush to to enter the new election as an opposition leader.  (We all know Bush isn't happy unless he's sticking his nose in another country's business and making a mess of everyone's lives.)  Of course, everyone also knew that an attempt on Bhutto's life had been made before, very recently (October 19, one-hundred and forty or so people were killed, Bhutto escaped unscathed).  The point of all this now-common knowledge?

Something about this whole thing bothers me.  Something that the papers have failed to mention.

Musharraf is blaming the Taliban, just like everyone else blames them for everything that has, thusfar, gone incredibly wrong in the world.  The Taliban is becoming a very convenient excuse for stupid mistakes made by other groups and whatnot, don't you think?  No one knows for absolute sure who did what in this case.  After all, Musharraf did refuse Bhutto's request for better security,  her opponent, Nawaz Sharif, has escaped even a hint of assassination in all his public appearances, Mahsud is giggling about the whole thing, Bush is, well, Bush, and Mohammedmian Soomro decides that everyone should simply get along with their lives and continue the elections (which is what Bush wants) directly after her death.  And what's up with the current government over there: 'she was killed neither by gunshots nor shrapnel in Thursday's attack in the garrison town of Rawalpindi, but instead died of a skill fracture when she hit her head on her SUV's open sunroof.'  'Her supporters scoffed at the assertion.'  Yeah, I would to.  That's bullshit.  Of course the Taliban is in absolute rapture right now, especially with the talk about postponing the election.  They can strike and overthrow Musharraf in one fell swoop with barely any opposition (especially with all the riots and whatnot from Bhutto's supporters).  If that happens, Pakistan will be under Taliban control and we would have lost a vital Middle Eastern ally.  Although this may be something the Taliban would do, they would, undoubtedly take credit for it; especially since Mahsud is commending the 'brave boy who killed her'.  To me, it seems more like one of her opponents, or even Musharraf himself could be behind the assassination.

The previous attempt on her life is what gets to me, as well.  One hundred and forty people killed and she left without a scratch on her?  Come /on/  people.  You can't look at me straight in the  eye and tell me she wouldn't get some hate-mail from that.  Families of the people killed would probably be pissed, and the state of the Middle East as it is, you can bet your sorry ass that many of the common-folk have guns to protect themselves.  This recent appearance by her to the public would have been the perfect opportunity for some payback.  And the bomber?  Well, he might have been there to kill her himself, which is why the bomb went off when right after she got shot.  The bomber probably realized he missed his chance and blew himself up before he could get close enough to the car.  Possibly hoping to give credit to whomever hired him.

Complicated?  Too simple to be true?  It's the way many of these things work.

    Strange things I saw today:

    1. Curly driving an Emergency Response Vehicle

    2. Ernest Hemingway talking with Sylvester Stallone at a corner Bistro

    3. Jim Varney walking down the street with Alicia Keys

    4. 'Pussyfooting' on a poster

    5. The Crypt Keeper driving the FedEx truck

All in downtown Covington. It was an odd day. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be over.

Tomorrow morning, however, I am getting my hair cut. Chopped off. Completely. I'll have a little left, but I want it /short/. I'm starting to get severe headaches from my wonderful hair, and have simultaneously decided on a drastic change.

In other news, I seem to have gotten married on Gaia. I didn't know he was being serious until he got in Cappie's face about it. I don't know what's happening as of now, though. I'm unnaturally temperamental after my grades got in. I did relatively well this semester, but my Communications grade should have been a B. It wasn't. It was a C, so I had to go from my professor (who didn't want to do anything about it) to the Department Head. I'm still waiting on a reply, but I think I got on Lassie's nerves. (Lassie my husband, not Lassie the dog, and, no, you can't call him that.)

    Bored
Well, I recently got the entire Invader Zim DVD collection.  My new favorite episode is the Halloween one.  XD  'The Halloweenies!'  It's great.

Anyway, darning_needle is still up on lj for now, just until I believe everyone's had long enough to update themselves.  Yes.

Right now, though, I'm sitting in the library at school, on the 'Research only' computer.  >3  I'm fucking around, as usual.  Les-lums is in class, so I'm bored.  I just got finished reading part of White Monk, Poor Folks, and The Gambler by Dostoievsky.  I think I like The Grand Inquisitor better (if I remembered the title of that book correctly >-< ).

Hopefully, Les-lums will be here soon, so I don't hafta wait around by myself for much longer.  n-n  I'm really /really/ kinda bored.

    Moving!
I'm moving my private journals to this journal, hopefully in the next few days. The only journal on lj that will still be valid is kiri_co. The fanfic and private journal garish_caesar and darning_needle, respectively, will be moved here and merged. Both will fall under this journal so no one has to go searching for anything.
